In the very early stages of recovery the recovering individual has a lot of needs for information. More than anything is the need to be able to identify with other recovering individuals, and to see that he or she is not alone. Although there are different people with different tastes in writing, these books can speak to every addict out in the world. Many of these books make you feel like--"This person is talking about me and understands me."
Below we have compiled a list of recovery books where many will give a voice to those in recovery. Some of these books have been written by recovering addicts or family of recovering addicts at different stages of their recovery, and they describe their life struggles with addiction and hopes for the future. Most recovery books listed here are meant for both in and out of the room recovering addicts.
We encourage you to e-mail us and let us know if you have a favorite recovery book you would like to have added to our list.
We hope you find the right recovery book to help you through your journey toward sobriety, or a recovery book that will make you feel good and empowered.
