Eating Disorders Treatment

At A Center for Addiction Recovery, we provide specialized treatment for eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorders, and other eating disorders.
As abnormalities in eating and weight control behaviors are potentially dangerous and life-threatening, we at A Center for Addiction Recovery will conduct a thorough assessment to ensure that any client seeking treatment for eating disorders will be properly supported.
In some cases, a full medical team will work closely with eating disorder specialists and dieticians to ensure that a coordinated response is pursued.
Our approach to eating disorders is person-centered, flexible, and supportive. We do not condone a 'boot camp' approach, nor do we support forced feeding in the case of anorexia nervosa, unless in a medical emergency. For this reason, a client must be ready to seek treatment and be open to our support. For those clients who are seriously underweight, approval from their primary doctor must be obtained prior to acceptance on our eating disorder treatment program.
Healing Therapies as Part of Our Eating Disorders Treatment
In line with our overall treatment philosophy, treatment for eating disorders at
A Center for Addiction Recovery will be individually customized and coordinated with medical care. The care team will be carefully chosen to ensure that the client feels safe, nurtured and respected. We will take care to create a restful, peaceful, and comfortable home environment, involving family members and significant others in the program as required.
Our eating disorder treatment approach will be a step-by-step process: first is to ensure that your health is restored and prevent any potential medical crises (in the case where a client is anorexic); second is to engage in multidisciplinary restorative therapies, including nutritional rehabilitation, behavior relearning, and supported eating plans; and third is to help identify better ways to cope and deal with dysfunctional cognitions and emotions. Often, high anxiety and depression coexist with eating disorders. We will also provide education about your condition and help foster healthier lifestyle choices, keeping in mind the need for continued support when you leave our eating disorder treatment program.
