Depression, Anxiety and Addiction Treatment

Depression Treatment One in eight clients seeking treatment for drug and alcohol addiction also suffers from depression and/or an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders are commonly associated with depression--in fact; about half of the people who experience depression also have an anxiety disorder. This is partly because people with anxiety disorders often become worried or upset about their problem, and this may lead them to become depressed as well. Some people 'self medicate' with drugs or alcohol to block out the effects of depression and/or anxiety.

Treating Addiction, Depression and Anxiety Disorders

Clients in our addiction treatment programs who are also diagnosed with anxiety and/or depression will attend cognitive behavior therapies, which will appropriately address their depression/anxiety disorder. At A Center for Addiction Recovery, we also incorporate complementary therapies for all clients attending our addiction treatment programs.

Substance abuse treatment may involve medications to help with different aspects of the treatment process. Our addiction treatment program incorporates various approaches, and it is sensitive to the changing needs of the client throughout his or her recovery. In providing optimal counseling, the counselors are sensitive to the patient's evolving needs in their substance abuse treatment. To ensure a progressive approach to substance abuse treatment, our counselors are prepared to address different topics in recovery by using different kinds of interventions and therapies, holding the client to a level of responsibility as he or she works toward addiction recovery.

How We Treat Addiction and Depression/Anxiety

At A Center for Addiction Recovery, we will work with you and teach you how to identify and deal with the issues that exist "beneath the surface".

Here we will have individualized plan for the following:
  • Resolve the underlying issues related to your depression
  • Conduct family Therapy
  • Empower you with the training and the knowledge to get the sense that your issues are manageable
  • Give you the tools and the skills to live a happy and fulfilling life without drugs and their devastating effects
For those individuals with bipolar disorders, the insights that therapy brings, will enable them to gain a greater understanding of their complex condition, which can lead to controlling it better over time. In cases that drug abuse is present, early treatment must be medically supervised, as there are grave dangers associated with abrupt stoppage of the drug use.

Once withdrawals are stabilized, personal training, body work, and complementary therapies help to strengthen the body while intensive psychotherapy and other reflective therapies help the client gain a better view of the underlying issues behind the urge to use drugs. As clarity returns, an enthusiastic engagement with a new life is fostered by participating in fun activities and learning new skills.
